Tip of the Month

How does the Unfavorable Terms Memorandum (UFT) process work now that it’s being managed in RAMP Agreements?

Prior to the implementation of RAMP, when an agreement contained language that was problematic for FSU to accept and the responsible department was willing to accept the risk, an Unfavorable Terms memo would be drafted by the central office staff and sent via email to the responsible department to obtain all the necessary departmental signatures.

Thanks to RAMP, the Unfavorable Terms (UFT) process is now 100% electronic.  The central office staff can now create, request reviews/approvals, and route for signatures all within RAMP Agreements.  As the PI, you will receive three system generated notification emails during this process that require no action on your part; when the Agreement Owner (usually the Grants Officer/Analyst assigned to administer grants for your department) is assigned, when the Language in the UFT Agreement document is approved, and when the UFT Agreement has been Activated.

The collection of signatures on the UFT Agreement is also 100% electronic. The Agreement Owner will route the UFT Agreement for signatures from the UFT Agreement workspace using the integrated DocuSign functionality. Once all the necessary signatures have been collected, the fully executed UFT Agreement will automatically be displayed in the UFT Agreement workspace.
